ACT & ECT sensor location??????

Looking at the engine from the front:
ACT (Air charge Temp) is on the right front lower intake
ECT (Engine coolant Temp) is on the Heater tube on the left front lower intake

Fuseable link test- tear open area where link is and use a jumper wire to test the fuse link

I use a semi deep 1" socket to remove those sensors
 
The ECT tells the PCM the coolant temp and the ACT tells the PCM the incoming air temp. Here is a example if the ECT were to go bad. If the ECT was telling the PCM that it was at -40*F all the time then the car would run rich and never go into closed loop. A good way to test these is to test the voltage of them when the engine is cold and then again when it is at operating temp. When engine is cold the voltage will be between 4-5v. When engine is at operating temp. the voltage will be .4-.6v.
 
The ACT & ECT have the same thermistor, so the table values are the same

ACT & ECT test data:

Use Pin 46 on the computer for ground for both ECT & ACT to get most accurate readings.

Pin 7 on the computer - ECT signal in. at 176 degrees F it should be .80 volts

Pin 25 on the computer - ACT signal in. at 50 degrees F it should be 3.5 volts. It is a good number if the ACT is mounted in the inlet airbox. If it is mounted in the lower intake manifold, the voltage readings will be lower because of the heat transfer.

Voltages may be measured across the ECT/ACT by probing the connector from the rear. Use care in doing it so that you don't damage the wiring or connector.

Ohms measures at the computer with the computer disconnected, or at the sensor with the sensor disconnected.

140 degrees F = 7.60 K ohms
