Adding Cats to OR-Hpipe

Looking for some advice on what to buy, everything I have on the car is MAC, but I dont think they sell individual cats.

Magnaflow maybe?

Also, is it possible to weld stainless cats onto a steel h-pipe?

As far as I know, all cats have a stainless housing, but I'm not 100% sure.

An older Mac catalog of mine has individual cats in it, I heard somewhere that they're actually made by Carsound (same place that makes them for Magnaflow). The cats on my x-pipe are Magnaflow and they seem to do well.

My O/R pipe has 2 cats added later and it works fine. The stuff was on the car when I got it so I cant provide more info.

Yeah, why the need for cats. I put cats on my o/r pipe last march and had to get them hollowed out three weeks ago cause they melted down.

If it's a passing emissions thing, I'm sure you can find someone to pass you without cats.

i'd just swap back in the stock h b/c welding in like 2 cats is gonna be over $100

i bought my magnaflow ss cats used on ebay for 50 bucks with only like 400 miles on em, the shop that put em on charged me another 50 to install...100 total for high flow cats

A catted H-pipe will have slightly more torque on the bottom end, which some of us like for a street-driven car. Also, after a while it gets old smelling like gasoline every time you drive your car (this may not be as a big of a problem with a mild cam, but I can't remember...). That's why I usually run cats for daily driving. Get longtubes and it's trivial to swap the midpipe.

One of my old MAC catalogs has universal cats listed as:
C3001 3"3-way no air $139.50
C3007 3" 3-way w\air $144.50

Wow thanks! I'm assuming no air means no smog pump, and w/ air means there is a conncetion for the smog pump to feed into?

No problem, the air no air IMO has to do with the presence of a smog pump. But to know for sure I suggest that you call the MAC tech line to verify. Good luck!
