Ok, i just installed a power brake booster i got from mustangs unlimited. My only problem is this, the pedal has a lot of play in it before it actually begins to brake. If i adjust the pushrod thing so the pedal sits a bit higher than the gas pedal, then i have to reach really far before i get to the part of travel where the brakes kick in. if i move the pedal up much higher than that, then it will be a pain to get to (especially with my stock steering wheel in the way of my leg). do any of you know of a way to reduce that play before the brakes start to work?

just to clarify, the brake pads are all adjusted out properly, and the connection from the brake pedal to the power booster is solid. Once the pedal is pushed in enough, the brakes feel solid.

Sounds like you may have air in the system. Re-bleed the brakes and see if that helps at all. I've replaced two complete brake systems and usually have to do mine 2 or 3 times before the pedal is solid.

A brake shop can power bleed the system for about $50 just to make sure.

brakes are bled properly, had a reputable shop do it. It's not that the brakes feel spongy at all, it's that the pedal seems to ride higher than the point where actual braking begins.
