hey just was wondering what all the advantages of the offroad h were... I know you gain some power. will it make it quite a bit louder also? right now i've got flowmasters on my 97 gt. and like the tone but would really like them to be louder lol...

your car won't even sound remotely the same. Ran that setup on a few cars. Sounds great, but you have to like loud.

It's worth a solid .1-.2 in the 1/4 and 1-2mph

I have an offroad H on my 97 with an otherwise stock catback. It sounds great with the stock mufflers, and is plenty loud for me. I definately wouldn't want to run flowmasters with it though. That would be painfully loud, with rediculous drone (IMHO).
The power gain with an offroad H is more than marginal, It is actaully quite good for the money spent. How else can you spend under 200$, less than 30 min installation and gain 15hp? I gained .2s and nearly 2mph when I made the switch on my otherwise stock 97. The factory setup has 6 cats, and if nothing else, you get about 30lbs of weight savings. :rlaugh:
Anyway, I highly recommend this modification. The midrange is where I noticed the most gain, and that extra torque is just fun. :nice:

:nice: Exactly.

Most guys love the loud exhaust of an offroad midpipe and aftermarket mufflers. It's too much for me.

On my 97, I ran stock mufflers with an offroad h. Perfect sound, much louder than just aftermarket mufflers with the stock pipe.

Dumping the stock mufflers with an offroad mid pipe also sounds great, but you will draw attention from the noise and not having tailpipes from the cops.

Finally, someone that agrees the stock mufflers sound good with an offroad pipe. I've seen so many comments on here that it sounds like crap, blah blah blah. I love the way mine sounds actually. Maybe I can take a video one of these days.

...less than 30 min installation...

I agree with the stuff you said, but I sure wish I could swap mine out in 30 minutes. I haven't found an inspection station that will pass my car (fails visual). So maybe with an "annual swap program" I will get my time down to 30 minutes. :D

Oh, and yes, an offroad H pipe and Flowmaster 2-chambers are pretty damn loud.

Business skills, or paying under the table, it's easy. Many counties in the hill country don't sniff and don't care. An extra 30-40 bucks should do it.

I knew I guy that died while under his car on jack stands. I don't do exhaust myself anymore.

I had my exhaust changed a few times and its not too terribly bad once you have been there a few times.

You will enjoy the o/r pipe, just keep the stocker for visual inspection

yeah that's pretty much what i'm hopin for is something that will be pretty loud. lol i'll probably just put it on and see how it sounds and if i don't like it go to different mufflers... any suggestions there?

I've got Borlas on mine (at least that's what I've been told Saleen put on them that year). The 2000rpm drone isn't bad for me. At least, nothing a little bump of the volume knob couldn't fix (that is, if I listened to the stereo).

i dont think mine is loud enought for me i think im changing out the h pipe for a x.

bad decision, won't be any louder, just popping more. Don't go with a bbk X pipe either. I've had 2 of them on my cars and hate them.

Why do you want your car louder? Quality of sound overrides loudness, and the h pipe with your mufflers sounds better.
