Hey, Thumper, and any one else interested, getting ready to port some E7's and wondering if you have any advice/tips/ maybe some secrets you would like to share? The intake valve guide is huge, I'll probably grind it down pretty good, some lips and edges around the bowl/valve seat area, pushrod holes squeeze down the port by the opening. Match them to a Cobra. Exhaust guide isn't too bad, emission bump will go, roof is very wavy, match to some BBK longtubes. I never knew that the exhaust ports was like that on, I think #2 and #7 cylinders, it's like two different ports going seperate ways from one valve, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Thanks a lot.

Ed is not against home porting E7's.
Don't go too crazy on the exhaust side.
No need to polish them.
Be carefull about gasket matching. Port match is good, but just flaring out the last bit of a port to match a gasket is not.
Follow Mouse's site up to the part where he gets greedy and hogs the runners out, and you'll be good.
Have a good valve job done on them and call it a day.

sorry thought ed was agiasnt porting e7's in general. that was my mistake. I wish i had the correct tools to do the job or i would of tried it myself. my heads had previously been gasket matched from the previous owner on the intake side... I hope it didnt hurt anything. While you have your lower off, check the water ports on the lower and make sure they are not eaten out and gasket match. mine was so eaten out that it would of been worthless to even put a intake gasket on... maybe post some pictures of the process? i am definitly up to learning.. Good luck!

Jason.. right on!! the intake boss needs to be radioused, tear drop type!! and I do agree in the height, I cut .250 off the length and then blend it!! Also correct on the cross section between the push rods... usually about .890.. open it up to 1.00 or "carefully" to 1.020 !! cool?? The exhaust is pretty tight... get the header gasket you want to use and open the port up!! cut the egr bump out and if you can also cut straight back to the back of the bowl, removing the part of the exhaust boss!! this will open up a straight shot on the roof out!! cool?? Take your time and dont get carried away with the cutter... it is hard to "put it back on" once it is ground off!! Just little work like that will open up the power with stock heads... and still have neck snapping low end and torque!! Match the intake ports to the intake ports on the heads... also match the Exhaust headers to the ports...cool?? now your rocking...and next year you will have to buy new tires!! LOL

PS need help... mail me I can shoot you some pictures to help!! cool??

Thanks for the replies guys. Haven't been on since they changed the site, my connection is dreadfully slow lately. Anyway, I don't think shiny, polished runners are the answer on either side do you, Thumper? The intake, from what I here, works better when it has a little bit of texture to it cause it helps the air and fuel mix with each other better (atomization?). And the exhaust is just gonna get carboned up any way so why bother? Thumper, if you wanna send me some pics that would be great! My e-mail is valleygrad2002@yahoo.com

P.S. I will need new tires when I get a line lock! LOL.

the TFS1 is a good choice ( 499/510 lift)... spring pressures need to be about 130/135 installed and 335/350 on the nose.. be sure and read the fine print, cause there are a lot of springs that "need the heads machined" to install!! Or what Mike K said above!! cool??

i cut out just the egr bumps, tryed to smooth it out as best i could to the rest of the port. There is still a hole there where the air pump blows air, can i somehow use jb weld or somthing to cover the holes? I'm not going to be running an air pump..

I'm alittle weiry of porting my own heads....

so far so good though...

holes...

Your fine... dont need to try and plug the holes... just leave them!! In the bowls.. see all the sharp edges ?? just smooth them out!! carefull and dont hit the seat!! cool?? also look at the picture of the E7s with the 1250 gasket!! take the grinder and just "match the gasket" or blend the sharp edge from the gasket into the port!! like a smmoth roll..Cool?? donr worry about going deep!! just smooth transition !! the intake set the gasket on the intake and scribe the out line of the gasket, like you did on the heads... now do the same "blend " into the intake!! Hey , your making power now!! With the forced air... your rocking!! dont forget the valve job and to get the heads surfaced flat!! cool??
