Advice on which way to fix this please

I got into my car and it wouldn't come out of park. The button wouldn't go in. So I turned the key a little (before the lights would come on) and I can put it in neutral to start it.

I found a brown wire right by the under the dash on the drivers side that wasn't connected. It is part of my braking system I figured out because the brake lights don't come on, and when I have the cruise control on if you hit the brakes it doesn't stop the cruise control. (you have to turn the cruise off) Just figured this out yesterday.

Would it be okay to solder the wire, or should replace it? Think I would have to buy a whole new assembly.

It's a 2001 GT Automatic.

I had a Car Alarm put in with the remote start and it had so many wires I almost didn't want have installed. But I don't think it could be that.

It's weird though. The first time I did it somehow I didn't have the key all of the way forward and turned on the A/C thinking I was out of freon when I realized the key wasn't turned all the way forward. Which makes me think that it could be that auto start now. There had to be at least 35 wires on that alarm.
