So here I am, traded my 93 notch away for a '00 that was cherry bombed on the inside, I have a secret, or so I thought set of keys hidden on the outside of my car, somebody found it, tagged my entire car w/spray paint drove it around and killed 60 bucks in gas and then left the car to be towed in a parking lot. Who has a shotty?

Grab a gallon of ordinary laquer thinner from the hardware store. Put some in a small bucket or pan and use a wash cloth soaked in it to scrub away the paint. So long as it hasn't baked in the sun for a few weeks that should soften the paint and wash it away. Rinse the rag in your bucket frequently. When you get down to the last residue, pour clean thinner on the area and wipe down with a clean rag only dampened with the thinner.

If this doesn't cut it, your last hope will be Easy-Off oven cleaner. Get several cans of the plain old ordinary kind. Spray it on the paint and allow it to sit 5 minutes or so. Use dry, blue paper shop towels to scrub away the cleaner and paint. Repeat as necessary. I did this about 10-12 times on a gang tag that was a year or two old. It came off. Newly applied rattle paint should be much easier.

This will, of course, take off any wax on the car. Try to limit how much cleaner and rubbing you put on the car paint. Watch for your base color on the towels. That tells you you're working on the wrong paint. It should only be a problem if your finish is badly oxidized or your clear coat is missing or damaged.

Last advice, Go slow, be patient, work small areas.

Well, just kind of decided it was time for a new color anyway so went ahead and started priming it. Gonna go with a silver metalflake undercoat, sonic blue metalflake overcoat and obviously clearcoat

That sucks man. It's bad enough a crook took it for a joy ride, but the ******* felt the need to spray paint your car!

Hell yea and the worst part is, ive been spending a LOT of money just doing the restoration on the inside of the car. it was set on fire by the original owner, in hopes of getting insurance fraud and I suppose a new car, but they called his bluff so he was left with a scorched mustang. the guy I traded my notch to for this 2000 bought it and was going to do a cobra conversion, then got tired of the whole idea and wanted a fox, and being that I essentially traded up in value, thought it was a great idea b/c I was going from a stang that needed a tranny overhaul to one that runs great but in terms of cosmetics, has a lot left to the imagination. He did do me a favor though and let me keep the Diablo chip thats in it, and a few mods he did to the engine, which saved me a bundle, but now im in the process of repainting it, got the primer done, this weekend is gonna be spent with twelve of my best "Buds," pun intended, and a whole hell of a lot of sanding. hoping to get it back to its former glory really soon. my pony is just needing nursed back to health!
