Advise me on a pressure washer

My car is being held up by the HOT water pressure washer I am trying to rent... It was out, then came back broken and for the last two weeks it is " waiting for parts"
So, considering buying a cold pressure washer to clean the engine compartment of my car... Its not all that bad, but has heavy grease and oil caked on around the steering Rack and K member.....
How will a cold pressure washer do cleaning this??
No problem spraying some degreaser before pressure washing, but I really do not want to have to scrape it with a scraper or putty knife.......
Any thoughts on here? Thanks

Pretty sure with a good degreaser a regular cold pressure washer will do the trick.
I’d go with a gas one, as some of the electrics are not too powerful.

I have a nice pressure washer, and have de gunked a few, Especially my car when I got my fox. It was caked with twenty years of hard crusty oiled mess. Cold works nice just degrease it with lots of the stuff. Previous owner of mine never cleaned it, and of coarse it had small leaks everywhere. I loved how it cleaned up. So much I had to push it down the street two houses away.

I used an electric pressure washer that I use mostly for clearing the mildew off the decks. I did my engine bay with it. It did the trick. No heat.

$200 Amazon SunJoe. Had it 5-6 years and no complaints

I'd say if you really only want it for this one job, maybe see if there's someone in your area that offers Dry Ice blasting and see if the cost is close?

Pretty sure I could find other uses for it around the place...
Looking at the HF Bauer electric 2300 psi brushless motor... For some reason I really dont want to do gasoline power........

Maybe the new brushless ones are better than the older electric style. Aside from being less powerful, both electrics I’ve had developed some pretty bad leaks as well.

My gas one I’ve had for almost 10 years. One $65 pump off Amazon last year, and it’s like new again.

I got a $65 dollar pump off Amazon thats unbelievably powerful. It's made of Chineasium, but incredible power. I use it a couple times a month to strip house paint and pool decks. Better than a Comet $285 pump. Been good for a year

The "gear" pumps are alot better than the cheaper " wobble" pumps?
I keep thinking something simple that I just Plug in to work sounds good... Sometimes even a Car like that sounds good....... LOL

You could go electric Home Depot one for under $200 if you only use it for light housework and cars. Gas ones are better, but you will have to drain them if your not going to use it much. I'd get a 2000 pressure Amazon gas for cars,drivway,ect.

My harbor freight green electric pressure washer is almost at year 2 with no issues. I keep a wire down in the tip to keep it from corroding shut and grease the Orings often. No leaks and no issues at all. It was really cheap and has done everything from cleaning the gutters and siding to cleaning heavy mud and dirt off my truck. I'd recommend it 100%

A quick spry down with Gunk engine decreaser and a spray down with that cheap pressure washer and it'll clean up well. The higher pressure ones can get you into trouble with blowing paint and stickers off. The cheap one can too but is easier to manage.

I have one of these and works great. Replace the hose with a uberflex hose and get a snubby gun and should handle all your washing needs.

I bought this ryobi model on Black Friday when it was on sale for like $60 or $70. My reasoning for going with it was the 3 year warranty that’s included, so if it ever s the bed I can just get a new one at Home Depot. Been a dependable unit so far, used it really just to wash the car and engine bay but it hasn’t given me any problems.

Plus they’re only $109 ($100 today) even when they’re not on sale. Idk if that’s the exact model number as they have a few, but I believe that is the exact same one.

Here's an updated model of the one I bought. I just needed it for cleaning my decks so I didn't want to go crazy. But like i said, after pulling my engine it did a fine job cleaning the bay. I did spray a ton of Gunk Engine degreaser in there first, and then put simple green in the pressure washer.

I don't consider it heavy duty by any means but it's been fine for what i've used it for
