AFR vs Brodix

Well I'm not running the M2 CNC heads but rather the Brodix ST5.0R heads. They have the 1.94 valves and flow close to the AFR 185's on the intake but with a much smaller runner. Here is the email that my porter sent me when he was done:

The heads have been almost completed on one head and the other should be done by Monday or so next week. They were flowed on a SF 1020. They flowed pretty *&^% good as is at 128 @ .200, 182 @ .300, 228 @ .400, 248 @ .500, and 252 @ .600 on intake. On exhaust they flowed 85 @ .200, 121 @ .300, 149 @ .400, 166 @ .500, and 176 @ .600.

After radiusing the valve job on exhaust and doing the chambers on both and a bowl and short side job on the intake they flow 142 @ .200, 193 @ .300, 246 @ .400, 269 @ .500, and 278 @ .600 on intake and on exhaust they go 99 @ .200, 130 @ .300, 160 @ .400, 177 @ .500, and 188 @ .600.

The heads have about 5 ccs or less aluminum out of the intakes so they are still very small and also still have the smaller as-is brodix 1.94 intake valves in them.

I only paid $1000 for the heads second hand but never ran and spent $200 getting them ported. I like the Brodix because everyone and their brother doesn't run them. Can't really comment on how they perform so much because my combo isn't matched up yet as I have a mysterious cam and a crappy carb right now. Even so it pulled 330RWHP @6000 and was still gaining. Timing was not optimized and A/F was 13.5:1. Running a Vic Jr. and 650dp with small 1 5/8" headers.

The Bordix M2 ST 5.0 R heads seem to out flow every head in this category but cost $2075.00 from Summit

The 185cc AFR Street/Strip heads come in "just" a little behind the M2's on the flow charts but cost only $1375.00 from Jegs.


I think I know the answer but I would like to hear it from some people who are running these heads or know of somebody how is. Are we talking about flow numbers that really don’t make a difference because they are so close and Cost that is the real difference?

You sould check out the 205cc TFS CNC ported TW heads thats Summit sells,thous thing are about the same thing Im getting.

The # I posted are ported Track Heats head with 2.02 and 1.60 valves.

The TFS head is all most $2000.00 and does NOT flow as good as the M2's that are $2075.00?

YOUR STILL LOOKING AT THE WRONG HEADS!

The ported TFS Track Heats that Summit sells flows 300cfm @ .500 and 220cfm @ .500.Ther the same as the TEA ported TFS TW.

are you comparing apples to apples. Port volume size and valve sizes?

Go to www.totalengineairflow.com and look under there 205cc ported TFS TW for aprox. flow numbers.There the same heads,only Summit is selling them direct, ready to bolt on.
