hi, been reading through the thread and i have a 347 myself. i thought i would go with more cubic inches and get some more power, now i wish i would went the 306 route. it can get pretty expensive to build a 347 even if you don't plan on going that crazy. you lose a lot of streetability and with a stroker in my oppinion and generally they work best with higher lift cams and they are a lot happier at the higher rpm range. if you want a good streetable fast car with a very friendly 1500-5500 rpm range stick with the 306 and you will definitely stay in your budget. i've read numerous threads and have highly researched all possible routes (too late for me of course on my current setup). stick with the 306, keep 24lb. injectors, go with the afr 165's they are cheaper, will work better with the 306, and flow almost as good as the 185's anyway and i know you don't want a custom chip but they are so worth it. $300 will give you a chip that you will have the possibility to have multiple tunes with and is a lot easier for any dyno shop to tune if you go that route. with all the extra things you have to change for the stroker ie, maf, bigger injectors, bigger more expensive heads, a different flywheel etc. it isn't worth it unless your drag racing or your not that worried about how streetable your car is, trust me, i wish i could go back to a 302-306 it's so much easier to build a fast daily driver that won't be that bad on gas either.
