aftermarket chip?

is it worth having my car chipped? my mods are in my signature, couldn't fit all in casue I used too many words! but how much hp would I gain in general? I mean, should I?

It would probably help, but if the car is running well right now then it wont be worth it.


Or.......you can try it yourself. Check out this thread I started about emulating EFI with a PC. Through the course of the thread, it als came out that you can do chip burning just like the pros do. Initial investment for the equip is about what a custom chip costs.

i heard chips dont do much for our cars. isnt all they do is bump timing which we can do ourselfs?

Not at all: the EPROM or "chip" has the fuel AND spark tables on it. You can alter the whole fuel map with a chip.

Unless it's custom made by someone who really knows their stuff, I wouldn't waste the money.

Nope... The only reason to get an aftermarket chip on a mild n/a combo, IMO, is if you're having drivability problems or just can't figure out a wacky fuel curve. Otherwise, adjust the AFPR and set your timing and let the stock computer do the rest.

Most of the Fox3 cars can be made to run pretty well without a chip. If the car is running OK already, either skip the chip, or take the car to a dyno and get a proper custom tune, which probably will be worth it.
