Aftermarket Deck Question

yeah you have to buy the correct wire harness do some searching there a bunch of links to the right harness's. It converts your amp input into RCA"s that you plug into the aftermarket deck

I just did this with my 97 with the mach system, the kit you need comes with 2 different harnesses, make sure you get a good radio like a pioneer that has alot of options as far as equalizing goes or it will sound terrible, just so you know it wont sound as good as it did with the stock radio that is for sure. I have seen it i n like 4 different mustangs and its the same case, once you upgrade the radio you have to trash the whole mach system.

Alpines are good for ipod connections but if you want great sound you will want to find a headunit that has a 4 volt output. Eclipse used to be great for this but I'm pretty sure they arnt around anymore.

Eclipse still are great units and they are around, i have used them alot in the past very good units.

I just purchased a Pioneer Double din Unit that i will link below. It was very cheap in my mind for what i got.
Touch screen GPS unit.
Detach Face
Blue tooth that synks with phone works great use it every day
Ipod input with cable ( you can get the cable at best buy)
Has Aux input for Head phone jack (this is how i run my wireless XM)
I use my USB for a flash drive with Mp3's but you would use it for your ipod input which is then controled by the HU everyone online liked the link.

I bypassed the harness so i can use it while in motion, I have owned many aftermarket decks and this is by far my favorite. I did install a whole stereo system with a 4 channel amp and new speakers all the way around with 3 10" subs. So i cant tell you the mach system will sound perfect, but from what I have read no mach system sounds great with aftermarket head units.
That bieng said swaping out the system in the car is the easiest car radio install i have ever done.

I know that the quality stores in texas now (custom sounds and a good local one) are having liquidation sales on Eclipse stuff and I was told by one of them they are just going to do factory stuff and no aftermarket now which sucks because they had some of the best stuff i think. they claimed they couldn't make as much as they were to supplying toyota or nissian

the problem these days is no one needs an aftermarket deck the manufacturers either make it impossible to put on in or supply you with what you want in the first place

Damn, that Pioneer double din is badass looking. It doesn't play DVDs though, does it? If I can't find a decent one that will play DVDs, then I'll go with that one. How much did you pay for it? Also, is that a USB port on the front?
