Aftermarket Gauges in 70/69 Mustang Dash

I just finished speaking with Haneline and they fit 3 3/8" main guages into the dash of a 69/70 Mustang. I don't really care for their gauges and wanted to fit 5" Autometers or Stewart Warner into the dash. Has anybody done it or know of anybody who can?

Pics would be great, as a reference, below is the unit that Haneline shows on their website. BTW, I already know of JME's cheap plastic retrofit.

There were several folks that had done this conversion on this forum. I haven't seen a couple of 'em posting in a long while. I think I might have pics of Corpse' old setup here somewhere... I'll see if I can find them.

guage cluster

i just purchased a 69 guage bezel from year one for 169.95. i used autometer 5" speedo & tach and 2-1/16 on the other guages.it really turned out great.only spent 600.00 bucks for everything. i will post some pics soon.www.cardomain.com/ride/2073886.

Yes I do, the originals are safely boxed away, I am after the pro-touring look and also the aftermarket gauges are more accurate and easier to read.

I did the work myself not too hard really.
And they look so much better, and they all work. That was the main reason I did it.

do a search on Corpse here in the classic forum. He did one. I think Edbert did one too. Then there is this conversion by Kevin Vinkler using the 5 inch Autometers. I corresponded with him and he talked me through his.

Check out this site. I did a Autometer 5" Tach and Left ther original speed
ometer and then I used the White faced Summit 25\8 gauges on the

you can buy them from year one,its the bezel only part#apd697.just install your own guages and do your own wiring.i also purchased a speedo adapter from summit and used my original speedo cable.i used a 12 wire plug from radio shack so it could easily be removed.

I want to thank you for posting this. I had no idea that in addition to the JME one, that there was any kind of alternative. I was going to do a radio delete and mount 2 gauges in the radio until I saw this. This very much rocks. Now if I can only figure out how to lay a carbon fiber laminate over the plastic and I can die a happy man.

I found those on Ebay, the fitment is just ok, but it does look nice and gives that extra space for a couple of more gauges.

I sadly don't have the talent to fab things like that...

I need to make a correction, I used this website as a guide and pointed several members here to do the same,

I used the same size gauges, 2 5/8" not 2 1/16" for the outside. That was my A pillar gauges. Still used the 5" in the middle.Sorry for the mixup.

The parts list is very handy, I used a slightly thicker aluminum and changed the mounting design, see my car domain pics and compare.

Two thingsI should have done different, I should have used an electric speedo, already having some problems with the mechanical one... and I drilled my turn signal indicator LEDs too high. Once the dash was installed, you can't see them very well sitting in the seat.
The year one piece looks good too, they of course didn't have that one when I did mine....:SNSign:

Thas my concern: going back to stock. Is there a female (well male actually) plug to go into the wire harness plug that goes into the original cluster? Or did you all splice into the wiring or draw new wiring all the way from the sensors? None of the pics referenced show wiring done.

I bought a A-pillar 2 gauge pod from Mustang Depot but fitment was horrible, so that didn't last long!

69fastback393 nice steup. Do they have a bezel to match the woodgrain bezels?
