aftermarket oil pan plug???

my stock oil pan plug is leaking, does anybody make a decent aftermarket one that wont start leaking after a few oil changes, or have a tip to stop this one from leaking... anybody know off hand the thread size also?

I have the SD-2 (i'm pretty sure that's the model) plugs from Fram. They screw in and have a valve in them. there's a cap that screws over plug itself. for oil changes, you remove the cap and they come with a little nozzle that screws onto the plug and relases the valve thus draining the oil.. (no mess) They're $12ea or so..but you won't ever have to worry about stripping the pan because you never have to actually unscrew the plug. if you've already stripped your pan though, you may end up needing a new pan. I don't know if there's a way to fix a stripped pan hole.

I find mine to be very worthwhile...i can drain the oil w/o even having to lift the car. just reach under their and it can all be done by hand. not tools, and I've never had a problem. had them over a year. My .02.

Did you refit a new gasket on the oil drain plug? That is more likely the culprit than the plug itself.

if the threads are fine and you want to get another drain plug, just go to a good auto parts store and get a magnetic drain plug. if you can, bring your old oil drain plug with you so the can match the threads up there.

my old drain plugs had a crappy plastic gasket around them which leaked right away. i repleaced them, but before i did, i used black rtv(miracle goo haha) and sealed em up.

PPI sold me new Ford drain Plugs pretty cheap for my car.
