Yeah, I would say 6400 rpms is starting to push the limit of where you need a girdle. Probably a good idea then.

I assume for that kind of money it comes with a crank scraper and a windage tray?

Ok just got off the phone with Canton and got one on the way. For any SN95 5.0 guys with a 5 speed who need an oil pan that will bolt right on, just call Canton and tell them you need an oil pan to fit a 94-95 mustang with a 5 speed, there are 3 options I believe, but I ended up getting the same one Leo (hollywoodstang) has, modified to fit by Canton. Hopefully he will chime in with the part number of the pan, as I can't remember the part number off the top of my head.
Total cost is $425 + shipping ($350 for the pan + $75 for the modification fees), and you have to contact Canton directly.
So there ya go, a definitive answer of what non-deep sump oil pan will bolt right onto a 94-95 5spd and clear a main girdle. One more hurdle cleared for the 94-95 red headed step children![]()
You're right about the blower, the blocks will split through the lifter valley with or without a main girdle.
That said, Woody at fordstrokers seems to know his stuff and he said the girdle is not a bad idea, I plan to rev this thing to probably 6400 or so, I just want to make sure the mains stay put. It's easier to put on a main girdle now, than to change my mind and have to pull the motor if I want to install one later.
Yes it does, it has a crank scraper, windage tray, 4 trap doors, etc... not cheap at all but it will get the job done and will have the ground clearance I need.
6400 rpm? Is this 306? or 331? isn't your power-band before that? Must be one hell of a motor...
Kurt, yeah the oil pan is expensive but it is so pretty~
347, the cam's operating range goes to 6300, so I am probably going to set the rev limiter to 6300 or a little more. Yes the peak numbers will likely be before 6300 but oh well, the motor is fully forged with a really strong valvetrain so I think it will be ok
Oh and Leo, I must have been mistaken about the scraper then, I asked him to confirm that the pan will clear a main girdle before all was said and done and he said it will. I made it a key point throughout the whole conversation that fitting with the main girdle was the first priority. He said they don't have any in stock, so mine will not even be technically "modified", it will be built from scratch the way it needs to be so I'm kinda happy about that! Should be here in 2 weeks he said.
I'll still give Nick a quick call at lunch today to make double sure it does not have the scraper though, just for peace of mind.

What heads and cam are you running. I have ported 192cc heads, and a Trick Flow 3 cam on my 347, and my optimum shift rpm is about 6200rpms. So that should give you a good idea.
