Yeah, I would say 6400 rpms is starting to push the limit of where you need a girdle. Probably a good idea then.

Ok just got off the phone with Canton and got one on the way. For any SN95 5.0 guys with a 5 speed who need an oil pan that will bolt right on, just call Canton and tell them you need an oil pan to fit a 94-95 mustang with a 5 speed, there are 3 options I believe, but I ended up getting the same one Leo (hollywoodstang) has, modified to fit by Canton. Hopefully he will chime in with the part number of the pan, as I can't remember the part number off the top of my head.

Total cost is $425 + shipping ($350 for the pan + $75 for the modification fees), and you have to contact Canton directly.

So there ya go, a definitive answer of what non-deep sump oil pan will bolt right onto a 94-95 5spd and clear a main girdle. One more hurdle cleared for the 94-95 red headed step children

I assume for that kind of money it comes with a crank scraper and a windage tray?

Yes it does, it has a crank scraper, windage tray, 4 trap doors, etc... not cheap at all but it will get the job done and will have the ground clearance I need.

Hey! Dan!

Yo! The one i got is 15-644 - 302 REAR SUMP RR T PAN , if you are planning on using with girdle you need 15-644S - 302 REAR SUMP RR T PAN WITH NO SCRAPER

Dan you need to call Nick back and clear this up if you are gonna run the girdle, this is the RR pan, Totally unnecessary for the street but when you get something you should get the best that's my opinion, on the street you will just need this pan modified to fit 94-95 cars 15-640 - 302 REAR SUMP STREET T PAN but it's only $35 difference between the two so that's why i went with the RR

But Dan You need to call Nick back and figure situation out, if you got the "Exact" same one as i do it will not clear your girdle.

Good luck
Leo

You're right about the blower, the blocks will split through the lifter valley with or without a main girdle.

That said, Woody at fordstrokers seems to know his stuff and he said the girdle is not a bad idea, I plan to rev this thing to probably 6400 or so, I just want to make sure the mains stay put. It's easier to put on a main girdle now, than to change my mind and have to pull the motor if I want to install one later.

6400 rpm? Is this 306? or 331? isn't your power-band before that? Must be one hell of a motor...

Kurt, yeah the oil pan is expensive but it is so pretty~

347, the cam's operating range goes to 6300, so I am probably going to set the rev limiter to 6300 or a little more. Yes the peak numbers will likely be before 6300 but oh well, the motor is fully forged with a really strong valvetrain so I think it will be ok

Oh and Leo, I must have been mistaken about the scraper then, I asked him to confirm that the pan will clear a main girdle before all was said and done and he said it will. I made it a key point throughout the whole conversation that fitting with the main girdle was the first priority. He said they don't have any in stock, so mine will not even be technically "modified", it will be built from scratch the way it needs to be so I'm kinda happy about that! Should be here in 2 weeks he said.

I'll still give Nick a quick call at lunch today to make double sure it does not have the scraper though, just for peace of mind.

Nice!, I guess you are getting one off pan from canton then, yeah nick told me it takes 2 weeks to modify my pan too, but in reality it will be 4 weeks, trust me Canton takes their time,

Good luck with your build and post some pictures of you 347

What heads and cam are you running. I have ported 192cc heads, and a Trick Flow 3 cam on my 347, and my optimum shift rpm is about 6200rpms. So that should give you a good idea.

The heads are ported Holley SysteMax (Holley Systemax upper and lower intake as well) that have been converted to 7/16 stud mount rockers, I can't remember what cc they are off hand because I had them ported months ago. The cam is an Anderson N-71, and I was mistaken earlier, the RPM range of this cam is 2700-6700 according to Anderson, although I do not want to spin it anywhere near 6700.

Below is a dyno graph from a car running an N71, AFR 185's and Systemax upper/lower on a 331 and it looks like it was making power to around 6100, just slightly lower than you. Granted my setup is slightly different (347 and will be approx 10.5:1CR) but the heads should be comparable.

http://www.andersonfordmotorsport.com/images/stories/N-71_B_K.jpg

I haven't decided on a final RPM limit for the motor, I'll go by whatever Don Lasota recommends when he tunes the car, but I'm thinking around 6300.

Leo, yea even if it is 3-4 weeks, that is OK because I won't get the motor until the first week of May. I will definitely snap some pictures of the motor and as much of the swap as I can

I actually make max power at 5650rpms. I shift at 6200rpms.

Moroso 20506 - Moroso Street/Strip Oil Pans - Overview - SummitRacing.com

This is the one I bought, and I have ZERO clearance issues.

I have a main girdle, and needed to get the pickup designed to use with one. This doesnt have any trap doors, but it is a t-pan, and if you look closely the oil is pretty well controlled by the sump.

I have a Tremec 3550 and had no issues with the clutch cable. I ended up getting a k-member, but it fit fine with the stock k-member also.
