hey all, just happen to get my ride back from the body shop, after my roomate crashed and let me tell you im glad to have it back.. but anyway i have a couple of questions, ive done alot of searching on these forums and couldnt find the exact ansewer im looking for so if i missed it im prepared to get owned ..haha.. but anyway are the urathane saleen kits any good that these other companies make besides saleen, or should i just order it directly from saleen, cause i do want the letters in the back so i can put some inserts in them.. im also looking at the 18 inch saleens as well, but what in the world is the difference between the actual ones and replica's besides the name and about 800 dollars in price?? is the quality worse?? does the chome suck?? but feed me your opions on this stuff.. thanks!

Saleen products -in general - are not great quality persay. Meaning the material they use for their products are excellent. But they are very very rough out of box. they are not finished, drenched in release agent, and just way it came out from mold. It generally requires many many hours in prep to make it fit right, and get paint to stick.
But after many many hours of prep and little luck, finish products are far better looking then roush that I have.

Now this is my general understanding. I'm sure that there are some people who had great luck with it, although, i don't know anyone whao had great luck with it..

Alot of people seem to have a problem with the saleen chrome wheels peeling. From what I understand the quality of the aftermarket chrome wheels is much better. You have to watch with the rear wheels though because most of the replicas have a larger off set than saleens 12mm.

personally...i shopped around for the wheels for a while. I liked the way that the replicas stick out from the fender a bit more. It gives the car a more agressive stance. Still, I haven't had any experience with the chrome.

They are $899 at Saleen. I have had good luck getting Saleen parts at a better deal from HaneyMotorsports.com

What he said. HaneyMotorsports is always a better deal and they will actually tell you what they have in stock and if they can get what you need.

If you can actually get Bob Root on the phone at Saleen he will tell you if they really have an "E" hood in stock. He is about the only guy at Saleen who actually knows all about all year Saleens besides the 05/06.

The only way you are going to get the " S A L E E N : in the rear bumber is buying a rear Saleen bumper. If you want to do it right, buy the Saleen kit and spend the money and make sure you take care of your body and paint guy because he will need to spend a lot of time on the kit to make it look right.

I would not deal with them. A buddy in my club just had to dispute a charge because he never received parts from them. I also say talk to Casey at Haney, he is very helpful and easy to work with. He needs to get his site to work in firefox although. I thought someone posted saying Bob Root no longer worked for Saleen, however I can't remember.

I also agree by saving your money and doing it right the first time. Also be sure to find a body shop that knows what they are doing, that will have a huge effect on how well your kit comes out fitting.

I got lucky and found the e-hood on ebay a while back. $570 and the guy was local so I picked it up. I love the hood! http://www.bluegt.com/beach/12.jpg

Hey Guys- To let you know, Saleen has/is redoing all the molds for the body kits and wings!!! The last front fascia we picked up just last week looked ALOT better than the previous fascias. From what I have found out they are having another company do all their 94-04 body pieces for them. I won't say the name, but they have been around for a long time and have quality products. As for the Saleen chrome wheel issue, they did in the past have a problem with chrome peeling. I have not seen any problems in the last 2 years or so. Unfortunately, Bob Root is no longer at Saleen...about 1 year now.

sstrayer- you are right about firefox!!! We are trying to get that corrected. All I can say is use explorer for the site right now.

shout out to Marcus- How about those OC home prices!
