Anyone install an aftermarket short throw shifter and get a buzz in the middle of the rpm ranges? I put a Roush shifter in my 06 Roush. It gets annoying. I called Roush and they said that's what you get with a short throw shifter Friend of mine had a short throw put in his Z06 and it was perfectly quiet. Over at another Mustang forum I heard guys with a B&M and another compant I can't recall had the same thing. Anyone install one that didn't make noise?

I installed the B&M shifter and the only noise I get is a creak when I gas it or hit the brakes. Don't know where it's coming from, but it bothers me....no buzzing though, just the creak.

I've got a B&M shifter and found the squeak. Turns out the body end of the shifter moves slightly with engine/tranny movement. This causes the stainless body of the shifter to squeak against the washers installed between the shifter body and the retaining nuts. B&M supplied brass washers originally, if these are replaced with steel it gets louder (ask me how I know). Next time I'm under the car I plan on adding some teflon or similar washers to eliminate it.

When these shifters are made all of the rubber is removed in order to make them shift positively. If you want a quieter shifter, then you want one that shifts worse. That is the trade off of aftermarket shifters and other aftermarket parts that improve the performance. If you want a quiet car that rides smoothly and doesn't make any noise and doesn't use much gas it is best to buy stock parts.

I put the Roush in to. I also have the Roush billet handle & kob. The billet handle comes with a rubber spacer. I get no buzz with it.

The throw is real short. I also have the roush shifter ball. That was my first thought as to the cause of the noise, but it makes the noise with no shift ball or adapter installed. I did talk to Roush again and they said they have a newer design that doesn't buzz. I ordered one and they will give me credit on the old one once I send it back to them.
