If you need to replace your timing cover, and you don't want a junkyard part, here is a link (brand new).

http://www.midwayautosupply.com/detailedproductdescription.asp?18072

Dorman is the manufacturer, actually made in china. Part number is DOR-635-106. Ran just over $100 with shipping, which was very fast btw. The part is actually for the 97-2001 explorer/mountaineer, but there is no difference that matters (2 tapped holes but they are not open in the back, so I don't even need to plug them).

Quality was top notch, until I installed it. With all of the bolts torqued, I went to put the front oil pan bolts in, and they didn't line up (left/right). With the 2 keys at the bottom, You can't shift the cover. I had to drill my oil pan out slightly with a drill bit/die grinder (minimally btw).

But that didn't take but 10 minutes; And when you compare this to over $500 for a new cover from Ford, I think this is a very viable and reasonable option.

Just thought this might be helpful.

Cool, didn't know that. I wonder if it's our timing cover or dormans...hmmmm. Thanks for the info!
