ahh man my clutch

Well a min ago i was driving i was in 1st gear i stepped on her and power shifted to second. And missed so i thought sheet then when i pushed the clutch in it felt softer and i could not get the car to go into any gears. I turned it off and when i pushed the clutch in the car starts up but i cant use my clutch to get into any of the gears. I looked at the clutch cable and it wasnt snapped inside the car but its too dark to look under the car. help please I have a UPR triple hook quadrant by the way.

when I had that problem I had fraged my pressure plate. Sorry, not very bright reply but its who I am....

thanx man good enough for me i looked a little closer i think i snaped the cable lol so how much did it cost to fix the pressure plate

well I went ahead and bought a clutch kit because I wasn't sure how much damage I did to the clutch plate itself. It was about 250 or so. That was the autozone special and I wish I had spent more and got a better kit. I can tell it doesn't have the bit it used to.

If you do it yourself, it wont be bad, probably less than $300 if you get the pressure plate + clutch disc. If you have it installed then your looking at a nice chunk of change. I replaced my clutch, pressure plate, and bearings for $160...course I did it myself when I worked in a shop in an afternoon. Only took 4 hours, but with a lift, air tools, everything.

yeah a lift and a tranny jack would be a great help, I was crawling around in my driveway trying to bench press the damn thing up in the tunnel...it sucked, luckily you just busted your cable, not as bad.

An EXACT samething happened to me back in september. Turned out that my stock clutch shattered in to 15687 piaces...
I can slmost bet my left nut thats what happened.
go back under the car, and take off clutch fork cover. If you see pieces of clutch, then then thats what happend.

If your going to take off trans yourself(not hard to do), beaware of top belhousing bolts! Do not use 12pints socket. USE 6 point socket. if you don't have one, go buy 'em. you'll thank me later

If you take it to a shop, call for prices, when I had my clutch changed (I supplied the clutch) the install price quote ranged from $150 to $390, I ended up having a local transmission shop do the job for $180. (the $150 place was backlogged with work)
