Ok :SNSign:'erz,
here is the deal with my 88's A/c....... it use to work ice cold when it wanted too, like it would only work sometimes and also would cut off randomly
but now it wont work at all.......
The clutch kicks on and off perfectly by use of the a/c knob, i have no air coming through, no power to the vents, im assuming it could be the blower, but when it works(which it still might do cause its weirded out:shrug: ) the air blows like a brand new car! what could be the problem and what should i check for

Sounds like you had a leak and all the r-12 finally leaked out of the system.

R-12 is expensive.

The proper way to fix is to replace all the o-rings, pull a vacuum and charge with new R-12 and oil...however that will cost you big $$$$

You can convert to R-134a. There is the right was and there are "cutting corners" ways of doing it. It's cheaper, but won't be anywhere near as cold.

Or you can delete it altogether

I know one of the vacuum lines behind the intake goes to the dash controls, one of mine crappy plastic lines cracked and all I had was defrost. I've driven 3 years so far a/c less in the stang and finally gave in and got a polished a/c setup for mine, just need a condensor and I'll be good to go.

I had the same problem. Check the wiring going to the heater box, a connection on mine became corroded . I could wiggle the wiring and the blower motor would start working.
