This may seem like a dumb question, but what or why is the point of removing the remove the air intake silencer on the new Mustangs.

It makes the engine more raspy sounding, and it seems to make it rev a little better. Try removing it and putting in a K&N filter, you'll like it! Some guys claim they gain a little in the quarter mile from removing it too.

Great sound and more air getting to engine, also some tests show about a 5 hp increase and some say no.

yeah, i took it off of mine and didn't really notice much. made the engine sound a little different. maybe the rev's got better...could just be my imagination too

My big bad mean 00 V6 Sounds cool up top with it gone. Can't tell if it help hp though, at least my car is a pound lighterm thats like .01 hp gain! Damn,I could take on any mustang now!

it helps some people, it doesnt do anything for others, but it doesnt hurt to take it off
