Air Silencer?

http://mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/intke.htm

The air silencer is the rubber peice that mounts in the firewall to direct air into the air filter housing, its attached by a bolt, and you should see it if you were to remove your air filter housing sticking through the fenderwall. Removing it, which some people do, some dont, believe that it allows more unrestricted air flow and had increased power, but some people have had a negative effect and lost power.. try searching to get opinons on it :nice:

on topic, i just dynoed my car this morning, 2004 gt, put down 231 hp and 275 ft lbs, did so on two pulls with about 10 minutes coll down in between, pulled the silencer after the second pull and let the car cool 10 minutes and put down 236.5hp and 280.7 ft lbs, gain of over 5 hp and 5 ft lbs, gained 5hp and 5 ft lbs over the entire curve, no loss down low
