air tube on the h-pipe

I cut the injection tube at both cats jsut to get the h-pipe out then the remaining piece of the air injection tube twisted right out for me.

Also never underestimate heat and penetrating lubricants.

Have you had any trouble with the heater hose melting?

Not at all, I got the tubing from a Semi truck repair shop. Some people said it would work and others didn't so I decided to try it. Maybe it depends on the type of hosing you get. I was told specifically to get the "blue high temp hose". I post a pic later.

That factory clamp puts a bigtime crimp in the line making it a mofo to get apart...i battled with mine for an hour or more heating and beating on it...Like the guys said....cut it and use hi-temp hose to splice it....a whole lot less aggravating.... :D

Yes the pipe is needed. When i had mine disconnected for a couple days the cats would load up and the car ran horrible after jsut a few minutes of driving.

I then used heater hose (regular stuff) with 2 hose clamps to connect my line to the new h-pipe and it has been fine for almost 6k miles...

That pipe is not needed if you don't have cats. I ended up taking the entire smog system off of my car and simply capping the tube that comes off of the h-pipe and the two holes in the back of the heads. It looks so much nicer getting those lines out from the pass. side fender well too, and much easier for changing plugs, snugging up header bolts, etc.
