air tube on the h-pipe

I am having trouble getting the air tube off of my stock h-pipe, does this need to be sawed off or does anyone have any reccomendations for it?

I had the same prob. The clamp was on so tight it literally bent the tubing and it would not come loose. I ended up using a dremmel tool to get it apart.

I cut the injection tube at both cats jsut to get the h-pipe out then the remaining piece of the air injection tube twisted right out for me.

Also never underestimate heat and penetrating lubricants.

Thats how I got mine off. I ended up just using a high temp heater hose to link the H-pipe to the air tube with clamps. THat way it was easier to take it on and off.

Not at all, I got the tubing from a Semi truck repair shop. Some people said it would work and others didn't so I decided to try it. Maybe it depends on the type of hosing you get. I was told specifically to get the "blue high temp hose". I post a pic later.

That factory clamp puts a bigtime crimp in the line making it a mofo to get apart...i battled with mine for an hour or more heating and beating on it...Like the guys said....cut it and use hi-temp hose to splice it....a whole lot less aggravating....

had the same problem this week end when i did mine ...broke out the air tools cut that bitch off from the h pipe and used vise grips to pull out the remaining piece ...got tired of messing with it ..lol

Yes the pipe is needed. When i had mine disconnected for a couple days the cats would load up and the car ran horrible after jsut a few minutes of driving.

I then used heater hose (regular stuff) with 2 hose clamps to connect my line to the new h-pipe and it has been fine for almost 6k miles...

After completely unbolting my stock midpipe, it was hanging from the egr tube and I could not get it off. I placed my foot on the cross section of the pipe and pushed as hard as I could and it finally came off.

That pipe is not needed if you don't have cats. I ended up taking the entire smog system off of my car and simply capping the tube that comes off of the h-pipe and the two holes in the back of the heads. It looks so much nicer getting those lines out from the pass. side fender well too, and much easier for changing plugs, snugging up header bolts, etc.
