check if the standard vent is also stuck coming out of the defroster vent. If so, it's a simple fix. There's a small plastic vaccuum hose that runs along the firewall; it's broken or cracked.

Check the vacuum tree on the driver side fender behind the strut tower.

I just got a plastic vacuum fitting from Advanced Auto that the hose fit in the ends rather tightly, and slid it on, and electrical taped it all up. It's held up for 2 years now.

Great call Zero! I had the same problem, went outside after reading this and the little guy was broken clear through. I fixed it immediately with some rubber vacuum tubing and zip ties to keep the rubber tube attached to the broken ends of the plastic vacuum tubing and the HVAC controls work as normal now. Thanks.

How many times have we seen this question?
It usually cracks close to where it connects to a plastic tee off or branch. You can go to a chain auto store and buy hose by the inch/foot. That's all I did!
