I know that this is not a popular choice but how long will the al4d hold up behind a 2.3T? What is the max power rating for the al4d? Yes I am looking for a T5 and yes I will put in the T5 I was just wondering and couldnt find the answer searching.

It depends. Joe morgan used to launch his A4ld on slicks. They are somewhat strong, but not durable at all. If it already has a lot of miles, chances are it won't last to long. Ford limited the A4ld 2.3T to 160hp from the factory.... but later versions are behind the torque 4.0 in the explorer.

I wouldn't think a A4LD would last long once you put some power to it exspecially if its got some miles on it like 100k. Now how much power it will take and how long is anyones guess.

The 88'TC A4LD was only rated at 150hp acording to NATO.

I wanted to keep my A4LD cause of overdrive and lock-up but my tranny guy talked me out of it.
You can get converter lockup kits/switches and Explorer parts but the main shaft is still the weak point apparently.

Turbo's are fun in an automatic, I'm giving up OD for a bullit proof C-4 getting built now.

I've heard of A4LD's being good for up to 300hp, but its just what i heard. I suppose that if you dont beat the hell out of it, it'll probably last somewhat long, at least long enough to find a T5.
