I lucked into a 99 GT, it was crashed in the front. Pretty minor crash, but blew both bags. It had several mods and just 47k miles. I have it all back together, painted and ready for the road. When I got the car, it didnt come with a key. Had the locksmith come out and got two keys made. I can start the car fine, but everytime I have to hit the disarm button that is up under the dash when I turn the key on to get it to start. I dont have a remote for the alarm and the valet button is missing the little button and spring, just the light is left in the dash panel.
I dont mind having to hit the button to start the car, however the alarm arms as soon as I exit the vehicle. Whether I lock the doors or not. I unhooked the alarm speaker so I dont have to deal with that. It still blinks the lights and goes off pretty easily.
On the alarm box it reads
Code Alarm Sure Start LX
There was a book for the alarm in the glovebox and it has Ford all over it, so I assume this is a dealer installed alarm/remote start.

Should I remove this thing? Try to find a remote for it, if so where?

On the back of the alarm box, there are two wires that have gotten really warm at some point, they are both marked as being heater feeds of some sort, so I am thinking of just yanking the whole thing. But what to do with all those wires.:)

The easiest way would be to locate the alarm's brain unit, which you already have done.

On the side of the alarm is usually a plastic "molex" plug that contains all wires leading out of the brain. If you're techincal enough and inclined to do so, you can find where each wire is tapped into and remove it from that point. If not, just grab a package of "butt" connectors, cut the wires off at the base of the molex plug, and then crimp the butt connectors at the end of each wire. That will take care of the starter kill function you're experiencing.

Thanks for the replies. I just ordered a remote online at www.powercallsirens.com
I'll try that and see how it works. Still kind of worried about the melted looking heater wires going into the main unit. I dont mind it as is now, having to push the button under the dash when you put the key in, just worried about the alarm going off while I am away from the car for an extended period. I unhooked the alarm speaker, but it still flashes all the lights. I havent tested it to see how long it would do that. All in all, it has turned out to be a great car considering I might have $4k in it when done, along with too many hours to count :) Just 47k miles, clean carfax, and already had some mods on it. I'll post a picture once I get the rims, tires, and slotted rotors on.
