Alarm install question

I'm trying to install a key less alarm. The alarm has the basic two wire switching output +/- on lock and -/+ on unlock. I realize that the stock power door lock system is a reverse polarity. I've lost my mind meesing around with it and can't figure out how to wire it in. Any help would be appreciated.

Actully called a 5-wire doorlock system. Two ways to do it, use relays, or buy a part called a 451m made by DEI. The 451 will make your life very easy, and you can pick them up for almost nothing on ebay.

You may find one locally, but they will probably be over 20 bucks. If your in the San Diego area, I've got a half dozen or so of them lying around.

For the relay method, use this wiring diagram. You will need two relays for this to work. The 451 is just already pre wired and combined version of this.

GT Conv, you got lucky - Shane is excellent with alarms and wiring in general (amongst other things).

i will add a couple cents. the wiring connectors for the locks should be at the top of the driver kick panel. if you remove the kick, you should see them right at where the top of the panel would be. i dont recall colors off the top of my head, but many of the lock wires have a primary color of pink (for when you are shotgunning which connectors are the relevant ones). real easy to spot.

I also endorse using the 451M - Shane turned me on to them on my last install (i used the module on the alarm on the 94 GT, and i used SPDT relays like he shows a schematic for, on the 88 GT vert). the module is simpler and very compact (what i liked best). there is room in the kick for a couple SPDT's if you do choose to go that route.

i cant remember - in '89, there was no facotry option for a keyless entry system or factory alarm with keyless, right? that would change how it is wired up, if so (makes it easier).

You're in luck. I happened to be working on the alarm today and had some picks of the 2 relay setup. Access the kick panel and find the harness with mostly pink wires. The Pink/Blue wire locks the doors and the Pink/Yellow unlocks it. There's a Black/White wire you can use for sourcing 12V. I used LoudToy958's pic as the base diagram. The other pic is my set up. From top to bottom, the wires are:
Yellow -> Pk/B, LtBlue -> Pk/Y, R -> B/W, W -> Pk/B, Br -> Pk/Y.

The Y/B is connected to the window actuator for the passenger side. I have two actuators that contol both windows: One actuator to roll down both windows and the other to roll up both. When I arm the alarm, my windows will roll up if they were left down. When I disarm, they will roll down. Before you ask "what if it's raining?", I have two toggle switches to control whether they operate or not. Basically, I can leave the windows rolled down with the alarm on (I have a motion sensor as well) when it's hot outside in my driveway. It took some head banging wiring, but the roll up feature is well worth the effort.

Remember to fuse your power source. Good luck.

Its cool you figured the window thing out on your own. Its not easy to do. Again, however, they make a part for this that makes it really easy. It also lets you roll the windows up and down as you like with the remote. Also has the roll up with arm feature.
