ok to cut out cats?

I have ben trying to get a exhaust for my 96 mustang for a while now, the only problem is shipping. Just to ship an x-pipe cost 130.00 or more. Is there any gains to be had by cutting out my cats and welding in straight pipes, or is this just a waste of time?

If there are no emission laws....Do it. I had the cats cut out and pipes welded in. No real power increase but, sounded better and I know it flows better. Felt very little seat of the pants difference but, I got the cats cut for $75.00....worth it to me.

Really, just leave the cats alone. I rode my scoot' to Soldotna and back last summer. It was incredible! I know AK only has like 250,000 folks up there, and the snow machines/four wheelers probably pollute something awful, but you really should do the right thing.

AK is beautiful. I sure would appreciate it if you would try to keep it clean while I'm gone.
