Alignment questions

I've been having some trouble getting my car aligned. After I had my car about a year, I noticed that the driver's side front tire was wearing quicker on the inside. I didn't get it aligned right away, cause I planned putting springs on shortly after that. After I put the Ford "C" springs on, the driver's side front tire was still wearing on the inside, and also the passenger's side was wearing on the outside. So, I get the car aligned, check the wear a couple of weeks later, and STILL wearing uneven. By then, it was time for a new set of tires all around, so back in October I bought a new set of 4 and I also go the car aligned AGAIN at a different shop. It's been about 6k miles, and I can already tell the passenger's side is still wearing on the outside and the driver's side is still wearing on the inside. Any ideas why 2 different shops can't seem to get my car right, or is it something else?

Are you sure your wheels arent off balanced or maybe one of them isnt slightly bent ? This can cause unusual tire wear as well.

Its also possible that the two shops you took it to dont know what they're doing and didnt get the car aligned right.

If anyone in here knows about suspension, please comment.

same thing has been happening to me. Both front tires are wearing a little bit more on the inside than on the outside. The shops are always trying to set the alignment to stock settings but the passenger side is only marginal. One shop told me my maximum motorsport CC plates will not adjust enough to bring it to spec. I do know that in my case it's not real bad but they are getting closer in finding the right alignment number that gives the tires longer life. It might take a few tries but keep the prinouts that they give you so you can tell them next time what is happening. Maybe the next correction will help. Goodluck

I'm pretty sure none of the rims are bent. Besides, they've been rotated several times, and the wear occurs on any rim, so it's not that. I've always kept them balanced too.

Mustangs have negative camber from the factory to give better handeling. The suspension on the mustang is very simple. Lower control arm, spindle, and strut. The first thing I would check would be you front struts. Very common on Mustangs to cause inner tire wear when they start getting weak. The wear on your tires has nothing to do with the condition of your wheels. There are several choices to adjust camber on stangs. You can either get camber/caster plates or cam bolts. The cam bolts mount in place of one of your spindle bolts and are lobed like a cam to allow for camber adjustment. Try new struts and a qaulity alignment shop. Cam bolts run right around $30.00. I worked for Goodyear for three years and was the front end and suspension specialist so I've seen all the problems. Good luck.
