alignment?

Ordered some Tokico HP "blue" shocks tonight. I was going to go with bilstein, but I read several reviews on stangnet and the corral and all were good. Plus, since I don't plan on lowering my car I think they should work fine. I really like the price too $44.44 each which means I got two cheaper than one Bilstein. I'll probably order the struts in a couple months. After they (the struts) are installed do I have to get a front end alignment?

Yes you should get a front end aligned. Any time you touch any front end part it is recommended you get it aligned. Also on mustangs you have camber adjustment so you can screw that up R&R the struts.

actually, if one does not mess with the strut plate on top of the strut tower, and merely removes the the single center bolt on the strut, would an alignment be necessary? i dont think so (i know it is probably a good idea, but i dont see how very much would be different. also, there are no cammed washers on the lower strut bolts, so that is not a factor either [like on some cars]).

hmmm (89RD, im not trying to refute what you said - what you said is always sound advice. im just curious).

I think you're both right - rule of thumb is if you replace struts, have the alignment checked; if you're lucky, it won't have changed if done as Hissin' describes. Me - I'd have it checked afterwards.

i think he just has to undo the one bolt ontop of the strut and then the two bolts behind the rotor and then compress the strut by hand. better hope you have some muscles if you dont have good leverage lol.

yes have the frontend realigned because there is enough play at the bottom of the struts to cause minor toe and camber problems.it shouldn't be enough to cause any serious problems while driving to the alignment shop though.
