hmmmm that could be a problem on the street but at the track it would easily be handled. you think the aluminum intakes would get heat soaked that much?

I would rather have the shorter runner design. That way I could have more HP where I need it and I could swap out the 3.90s for 4.30s.

In comparison to the composite intake.....big time. But like you said, it's nothing a couple of well placed bags of ice won't fix at the track.

Yeah, I suppose that's one way of looking at it for guys with most of the bolt ons, but the stock cams won't do much better at high RPM than they do now. The stock PI intake already breaths more than enough for all but the most radical of combinations, it's now just going to be losing a lot of the low end torque that the longer runners helped produce. It's true that a set of steeper gears will help out some, but I'm not thinking the trade off will ultimately be worth it for your average bolt on car.

Dunno....I guess time will tell. :shrug:

yeah true, the average street bolt on car will be better off with the bullit intake or the stock intake. Hell the stock intake is perfect for revving to 6k.

Most of the plenums are suppose to have a riser in it but it doesnt really seem its very big on the C&L I have. :shrug:

Are you sure about that? What was the Bullitt and SVO intake made out of? I don't know anybody complaining about heat soaked Bullitt or SVO cars on the street. Have any facts to back that up?

What facts would you like? How about thermodynamics? It's a well known fact that aluminum transfers heat much faster than composite plastic. Why do you think most carb and intake spacers are made of composite instead of aluminum? Do I really have to rip through my old college text books and write the formulas and transfer rates down for you to grasp this? :shrug:

The SVO and Bullitt intakes are also of a much higher flowing design than the stock PI unit. People running these intakes are also not putting them on bone stock cars!!! Not to mention that for nitrous or forced induction purposes (where these intakes thrive) the sturdier all aluminum piece is better from just a longevity perspective alone. Besides, we're not comparing that...we're comparing two nearly identical intakes made of different materials. One that conducts and transfers heat and another that does it to a much smaller degree. Common sense will tell you which one will keep the air charge cooler.

Like I stated earlier, only time will tell. But considering how long this company has been trying to put this intake out, without any major success and what little changes they’ve made to it, I don’t see this intake revolutionizing the industry any time soon!

The test car had similar output compared to a baseline. If you run nitrous this will be the intake for you.

Heat soak is total BS...IMO.

Yes it exists. But what difference does it really make in the real world? 5.0's have run aluminum intake forever and they lay down some serious numbers even in N/A trim. So-called "heat soak" is nothing more than an academic concern in my book.

The intake will allow easier nitrous instalation, end blown up intake problems, support intake porting for ported heads.

Factory cams will make more high end power than you think. I don't feel like typing out why I believe that to be true, but they will.

Can you see the forest for the trees? I'm not trying to give you a dig, but that is the most overly simplified way to look at this.

I don't see many other companies developing intakes for the 4.6 or the 5.4 (which is the part I'm most intrigued by myself). The fact that SOMEONE is looking to produce an intake that's not racetrack biased is promising.

If the 5.4 intake makes productiona nd someone makes 5.4 shorty headers that hook to stock H-pipes (or equivilents) I can forsee many 5.4 SOHC mod motor Mustangs roaming the streets. I know I'd build one.

thats for the upper plenum, no tests for the lower yet...I've emailed these guys about the 4.6 for 2 yrs now with a reply of its almost ready, soon, a few more weeks....for 2 yrs...I gave up on them :(

hopefully BBK will come through with their version soon.
 
So what happens with a nitrous backfire with regards to this intake?

They claim the intake will NEVER crack but Ive seen a vid of an aluminum cobra intake blown into little peices due to a 150 shot backfire. So what you get little aluminum pieces in your valves versus little plastic ones?

Someone please explain the logic to me.

the main problem with out 2v intakes is the runners. Nitrous puddles in the runners when/if a nitrous backfire happens, it blows apart the intake. Most other intakes to not have the runner design we have and the puddling problem.
