hi yall
i have finaly found a donor mustang that i am presently negotiating for, can someone please tell me exactly how many of the original sensors and relays from the donor car must i use to make this swap to my 1968.
must the eec1v be compatible to the transmission for the engine to work. mine is an aod, his is a 5sp.
thanks

I think the computer will work for both auto of standard, if it is 89-93. I was wondering something similar to you and thats what they told me. About the sensor don't know haven't gotten around to actually doing the swap. I'm still thinking about it and looking for a donor.

I agree. Neither transmission had any kind of computer controls or hookups, so there shouldn't be a difference. I think there was a slight difference on the older speed-density systems because the quoted hp varied, but on the mass-air I am more or less sure there's no difference. I'd get some more opinions though, I'm a carb guy :)

I just did this swap. New engine is a 408 stroker. Got a used a9L computer. My new harness from reen machine has a plug in the harness for either an auto or a manual trans. So i guess this means you can use the same computer for auto or manual. From the donor (94 bronco speed density) i took the barometric pressure sensor, intake air temp probe, and idle air bypass valve. Then bought used upper and lower intakes off ebay (eddlebrock upper, professional products lower), mass air sensor calibrated for the new 30 lb injectors, 75mm throttle body off ebay, and cold air intake from C&L. Lots of work, but engine fired right up. Still needs tuning, but sounds great. Used info from Ford Fuel Injection. Tons of good info. It's a lot of work....not cheap, but i think will be worth it in the end.

If the donor isn't a 89-93 mass air car don't do it. Assuming it is, you want every sensor, vaccuum actuator, relay that you can take off the car. Might as well have more than you need.

Are you going to modify the late model harness? It isn't that hard - but then be very sure to take everything you can get. Make sure to get the EFI collision kill switch as well.

If I hard to do it over I'd have taken the radiator and rearend, and criuse control stuff.

Good luck....

Grab everything you can. BAP TAD/TAD, O2 sensors off the headers, and I would suggest pulling as much of the sections of car side plugs. Of particular the brown plug by the master cylinder, and the gray plug under the dash which also includes the check engine light wire, and the wires for the Fog lights. make sure you pull the Neutral Safety switch wiring (actually not sure if the 5spd trans had that??? Grab it if you can.

The most important thing to do is to spend a rediculous amount of time labeling where the wires connect!! This will save you about a million hours of hunting down where everything connects.

Take pictures of the solenoid and the rest of the harnes as you unplug everything. Seriously, take your time if they let you. Mine was pulled for me and with very little care for what anything was. Turned out that the crooks that sold me my 5.0 pulled the engine from one car and the harness from another. Took me a bunch of bothering the good folks on the forum to help me out. (I'm color blind to boot )

But, when it was all finally hooked up correctly, the car fired on the first turn of the key; after two years of sitting. Love the EFI!!! Good luck.

IM me if you want me to send you all the ref. materials I accumulated for the swap.

Keeping the old harness is a great idea, but i didnt have a donar car so i just bought the new harness. Seems like it was much easier this way....but more money of course. I would do it again with the new harness however.

well thanks to all of you guys that responded, thanks for the info and opinions. i was not successful in getting that donor car, but i do have most of the parts already in my basement which i got for free from a few friends but i thought because i was missing all sensors and relays it would be better if all parts came from 1 donor car. so now i will attempt to modify the harness that i do have and then order the sensors and relays later. i hope yous are right about 5spd and aod not being a problem for the eec4.
thanks again.

harness was from reenmachine.com not cheap, but works great. Everthing hooked up to stock sensors, etc. The rest of the stuff, ie intake, rails, throttle body, computer, from ebay.
