I've got it narrowed down to 3 choices:

1) Nitto 555's (that's the street tire one, not the DR) for $700
2) Kumho Ecsta MX for $900
3) Goodyear F1 GS-D3 for $1000

Given these 3 choices...which one would you get? Is spending an extra $300 for the Goodyear's really worth it, or would you pocket that and go with the Nitto's?

I'm trying to get a tire that sticks well on dry pavement and gets decent treadwear. My car is a daily driver, so I also need it to do decent in the rain.

I'd go with BFG G-Force T/A KDW's for $149.99 / tire INSTALLED @ Costco Wholesale.. comes with free lifetime flat repair, free lifetime balance/rotation, air pressure checks, etc. If you have a Costco around you (which you should being in LA) that's the first place I would go.

Note: Last time I was there, for 245/45/17's it was $149.99 here in Cleveland, and that was a few weeks ago. I would call to ask they should quote you over the phone.

Those are good tires, but unfortunately they're not an option since they don't come in the size that I need (i have 18" deep dish bullitt's on order)

I know you have narrowed it down....But, did you look at the TOYO TS-1's? I really like mine alot (275/35 & 295/35/18's) similar tread pattern to the Goodyears....

no, I haven't considered them (mainly because I can't find them for sale anywhere online), but I have heard good things about Toyo...where did you buy them from?

I considered the Kumho Ecsta and the Nitto 555...and I bought the Nitto 555.

The reviews that I read on the Kumho's varied too much for me. The only real complaints I ever read about the Nitto was that it isn't the greatest tire for wet traction. Since my GT doesn't see the rain, that wasn't a concern of mine. Besides, I wouldn't expect any real summer performance tire stick well in the rain.

I had Nitto 245/45/17 on my old stock rims and I have 275/35/18 on my new 18x9.5 Cobra R's. Dicount Tire is the place to buy them. Keep in mind that if you play your cards right, you can negotiate tire prices with them...I did :D

I just order the BF Goodrich G-Force Sport tires from dicount tires (www.tires.com). My car is a daily drive (400 miles a week) and I am sticking with the stock rims.

But my point is Jay at ext 426 gave me the best deal. Told him I had the tirerack.com website open and I could get them cheaper and he beat the total by 11 bucks. Every penny counts.

So give them a call before ordering and see what they can do

Are you still using the stock wheels? I ask because I just replaced my tires with the nitto 555s and spent 480 for all 4 from discounttiresdirect.com
