maybe it is because I have only had two hours of sleep in the last 40 hours, but i cannot get the alt out of the car. Belt off, top bolt out, bottom bolt out, little bolt on back side that holds the air injection tube bracket up removed, all wires/plugs removed.

it is stuck at where the bottom bolt was. It pivots at that point, but wont come out. On the front of where the bolt went in, there is like a small section of thick wall tube sliced down one side in the bracket (the bolt goes through the tube), I tried to pull the tube with plyers, and tried to pinch it to get it out but no luck.

Thanks

nevermind, I got it.

Vice grips

Is that normal, that little tube because my haynes manual did not even mention it?

It's normal, we all have it. I'm not sure why it's used, seems a bit odd to me.

The pivot bushing always is a hang up (you'll find them on almost all alts). In the future if you can, rock the alt in it's cradle (longitudinally) and the pivot moves enough to allow the alt to fall out.

I had to pry my alternator out of the bracket. It's a tight fit. Putting it back, I had to use a rubber mallet and a couple of light taps to get the bolt hole aligned.
