Hey everyone. Unfortunately, I inherited my Dad's 1988 GT because he passed away this past August, and it has been sitting in storage for roughly 5 years. Upon pulling the car out and driving it when the roads were dry one of the bolts holding the alternator bracket to the block broke, one was missing, and the last one just wasn't enough to hold the bracket in place. The belt shredded and I have a broken bolt stuck in the head, but it isn't all bad.

My question was can anyone tell me what size the bolts are so I can buy them, or if someone makes a pack for the bolts that I can pick up.

When the weather clears up I'll be sure to get some clean pics for you all

Thanks in advance!

I appreciate the reply and effort

It has been long enough now where it's more about his memories than our loss. I now own the original reason I was ever interested in Mustangs in the first place, and every time I set foot in it I'll remember him. Thanks for the thoughts

I found mine

I found my original bolts...I think. It looks like there are three. I labeled them before I put them away. I am going to the hardware store to match them up for another 5.0 project. When I return from the hardware store I will report what size they are. I don't know if you can wait but it should be by tomorrow.

I can certainly wait, and I appreciate you doing that. We got a lucky break with dry roads up here in Michigan, but of course we got more snow so the car is sitting in the garage anyway. It's a good time to get her nice and fixed up before the real spring hits.

Thanks again

I ended up ordering the 3 from Ford, it was like 12 bucks so I didn't care. If the bolts don't come with paperwork saying their dimensions I'll measure them up.

here you go

OK here are the specs on the Alternator bracket bolts:
Quantity 2: Alternator Bracket to block 3/8-16x2
Quantity 1: Alternator Bracket to head 7/16-14x1.75
The overall lengths of the factory bolts are slightly different but the above are standard sizes you should be able to find anywhere. Need washers for the above

Let me know how this works out.
