I got my chrome 150A off ebay...lots on there
I have the chromer, but Im worried about why they are burning out on me. Im hearing that it may be because the chrome is retaining heat.

I talked to the mechanic today, and he thinks that if anything electrical were causing the problem, the fuse would blow first.

Dielectric grease is used to keep moisture out of connections. It also helps dissipate heat, which is a reason to use it for an alternator connection.

You can get it at any parts store (it's the same stuff that comes inside some new spark plug wire boots).

If you happen to talk to the guy again, I might ask if heat sink grease would be more appropriate - for this application it might work a little better. You can get heat sink grease at Radio Shack.

Just take the model # and go to powermastermotorsports website and see what comes up.

Cant believe that you would have paid so much for one on Ebay that is used...Guess it worked out!

Several years ago (8-10), I was going to chrome or polish my alt and I was told that chrome would make it burn out and that polishing would reduce the surface area required for heat diffusion and transfer making it likely to burn out as well. Not that this helps in any way. :flag:

It was brand new. It was $180 after shipping to Canada.
Is that US dollars? :rlaugh:

I talked to the head tech at Powermaster today. He said that a 130 chromed alt should not be giving you problems because of heat. He said when you get up to the 200 range, then you may have problems. ALSO, the "dual" internal fans is how they promote them, but that is a "factory" feature also :notnice:

Still waiting for my mechanic to get me some prices through him.
