Alternator Problem

Alright, so my alternator died a little while ago, and I've replaced it with a new one that I bought off of ebay. It's a 140 amp and its suppously brand new. Now, when I start the car up it rattles like crazy, and it didn't do it before I replaced the alternator. The car charges just fine, so do you just think that the rattle is from a winding in the alternator or something? I don't really know...any info much appriciated...

does the alt have the lil fan blades on the front i had a couple get bent and hit the belt causing a rattle sound

Yes it does have the fan bladeson the front, but I don't think that's the problem. The rattle/rapping sounds like Its comming from the back of the alternator. Also, the accessory belt seems like its redicusely tight, w/ no play at all

mine did that one time - turns out the bolt that holds on the pulley worked loose - it wore out the threads and I had to replace the alternator because I caught it too late

Ya, the alternator is tight tho. Bolts havn't back out or anything. I'm lost w/ this one

which seller did you buy this from? i just bought a new 140 amp alt off ebay. the guy had 100% feedback and i checked with some of the people who bought from him, they all had good things to say so i went ahead and got it. i'm hoping yours is just a fluke.
