A friend of mine told me after i put my BBK underdrive pulley kit on, that the alternator pulley would kill my voltage. Is this true??

Well at idle my voltage drops to around 9 volts, then jumps back to 12 or so whenever i rev the car up past around 1000RPM. I hate it personally and I am planning on getting a stock pulley to fix the problem. Too bad when I turned my old alternator in for the core charge I left the old pulley on it
