Ok well as you know the dreaded alternator problems of the 03/04. Thats what a buddy of mine is going threw 2 new alternators from ford since hes had the car in the past 2 years and this one failed now too. Any perticular aftermarket one that takes care of the constant failure of the terminator cobra alternator.

The OEM one seems to last longer than ay of the aftermarkert units available. Is your friend over-spinning his stock alternator due to a lower pulley change? Is he aware that a different pulley can be pressed onto the stock alternator to bring down the RPM's and hopefully extend the lifespan?

Word: Stay away from Tuff Stuff alternators. I bought one for my wife's Cobra only because I wanted a polished alt and they had the best price. Well, the SOB failed after 8 months (their warranty is 30 days) and when my local shop cracked it open, it looked like it had been assembled by a 6th grade auto shop class. I ended up buying a Ford unit and putting the polished case on it. No problems since.
