Is there a special position you have to install the new driveshaft? I know if you take the old one down you have to mark it to you put it back in the same position. Is this needed with the new one? If so how do you do it?

Never heard that your supposed to mark to put it back exactly the way you took if off . I didn't when I took mine off to install h pipe just took it off and put it back on everything work just fine. So I don't think so besides how can you put the new one on the same way the old one was on I don;t see how this would be done.
Someone posted yesterday that they did not mark theirs either and now have vibration problems. He said he turned the shaft 90 degrees twice to no avail. I wondered that myself, how can a mark matter when installing a new one? I say just put it on and see. It can only go in a couple ways. I don't really know but I would just put it on.
i agree with you fellas. I was just reading through my chiltons and they said to mark it so it "maintains the balance" in the drive line. I also had no clue on marking a new one but i didn't check out the new one that well and i thought maybe there were key ways or something like similar to how a balancer is.
I am probably going to do it tomorrow afternoon if the weather is good.
Your supposed to mark it yes.. but on a new install its trial and error.. if you put it in and notice a vibe you should remove it and rotate it half way around and install it. The alluminum are less likely to vibe because of less rotating mass.
