Am I crazy??? My friend claims he can build my car for $6000.

In a nutshell, this is what's in my engine bay:
B50 Sportsman block 302" stroked to 317"
4340 Crank, forged H-beam rods, forged JE pistons, O-ringed, custom Comp blower cam, ARP hardware throughout, AFR 165s, Cobra intake, 42 lb injectors, intercooled P1-SC w/12 lbs of boost

These are the major mods, there are more. It has a straight body, OK paint and a freshly rebuilt T5. I'm telling him he's crazy to think he can build this for $6000 including the price of the car. I'm pretty much trying to make the argument that my car is worth every penny if I sold it for this price. Am I insane?

tell him to prove it lol. Of course if he did EVERYTHING the same way you did, odds are it would cost more than that like it did for you lol. Its amazing the kinds of deals people find on things, so I would also say its possible to build something comparable at best. This depends greatly on the skill of your friend and his ability to so some of the work.
I dont think what i just wrote makes much sense lol.

He tried to find an Ebay 351 that made more power. I tell him, that's all well and good, but those parts are crap. It had stock block, cast crank, forged rods, keith black pistons, etc, etc. I told him, for the quality parts that are in there, it'd be difficult to build (within reason) for the same price. Sure you could have a hookup or rob somebody, but these are extreme cases.

I am sure that if he took his time and scavenged the parts It could be done if he is a competent mechanic. It would take an enormous amount of planning and thought though. not something that could be pulled off on the spur of the moment.
