I am working on a mustang for my boss and the car is running very rich. I connected my scan tool to it and it says that the ambeant air temp is -7 degrees. I cant seem to find the sensor tbough. Where is it located?
The ambient temp sensor has nothing to do with the electronic engine controls. Are you sure you don't mean the intake air temperature sensor? If it is the IAT reading you are looking at, it is part of the mass air-flow sensor.
Well the car has a vortec charger on it. With an aftermarket maf. I alsp found where they cut the wires for the iat sensor at the maf connector and ran it to a different sensor they must have installed into the intake tubeing just befor the throttle body. I unpluget the sensor and saw the iat sensor reading on my scanner drop to something like -14 . Plug it back in and it reads noremal air temp. But my scanner had a reading for ambeant air temp and it was -7. The problem it my boss bought this car wrecked and i have to get it all back together. The previous owner installed all the engine mods and i just need to figure out what was done.
