I'm really starting to dislike @#$#@# wiring. OK the new wiring kit is almost installed, everything is testing out but the blinkers and I think it' a flasher unit. Reading the tips from Ron Francis they recommend not running a amp gauge with one of the high output alt. I can see the logic, in 1966 there was no need for a 100 + amp alt. 6 x 9's in the package tray was a sound "system", didn't know what an electric fuel pump or electric fan was for, EFI was on Star Trac only, and either the factory headlights seemed brighter or my eyes have gotten worse. The orignal amp gauge is probably rated for more like 40 amps at best. Ron Francis recommands using a volt gauge verses the amp. Has anyone transplanted a volt gauge in place of the amp gauge. If so what year make model or manufacture did you use?

I assume your using a Ron Francis wiring kit. I've got one in my '64 Chevy truck. most any voltmeter such as VDO, Stewart Warner, Autometer, etc will work. It becomes a matter of how and where to mount it. It is generally accepted that voltage is a better indicator of you electrical system.

I'd like to swap out the amp gauge with a volt gauge, keeping everything in the orignal cluster. Actually it's a Ron Francis kit
