I want to convert my '65 200c.i. to electronic ignition. What is the best distributor and ignition box combo for my application?

Thanx in advance!

On my 65 Falcon I used a Duraspark dizzy and box out of a mid 80's Fairmont wagon with a 200ci six. I've used stock Duraspark distributers in just about every car I've owned when converting to electronic ignition. Alot of them I went to a MSD 6A afterwards and kept the same distributer.

Thanks!
Okay. Sounds like I'm gonna go with a mid-80's Duraspark Distributer, MSD 6A box and Blaster III coil.

Next quuestion.....Anyone have any wiring diagrams?

If you buy any MSD6 series box brand new it will come with all sorts of wiring diagrams. The right one to make it work with your distributor should be included in the box.

Side note: Yay for my 1000th post !

yes, dont buy the msd box. good box for sure, but i have a better ignition system for a lot less money. i used the chrysler orange box oyu can get from summit racing, or any chrysler dealer. you can get the wiring harness from summit racing also, and the hook up is easy. if you want the wiring diagram forthis conversion check out

by the way for the ignition box to dist connection, the black wire is a ground, and for the other two, it doesnt matter which of the two pins 4 or 5 you connect the remaining wires to, as long as one wire goes to each pin.

for the text check out this link;

http://www.gofastforless.com/ and click on electronic ignition. you might have to use his "loser index" if you dont have java enabled. it is at the bottom of the page.

I'm probably going to order the ignition parts tommorrow.

I ordered a new MC on Friday.....I originally did my swap using a '67 MC for 4-drums (which sally was wearing at the time) but now she has front discs I needed on for Front disc/rear drum....same $$$ from NAPA online, delivered and I don't have to make the 15mile trek to the store....

I'm also hoping to get some cutting/grinding/fitting/welding done this week.

THANK YOU RBOHM..!

The ignition box, harness and coil are being delivered today by UPS! The only part Summit didn't have was the distributor which I ordered from NAPA online, it's due in Monday.
