Im about to install a gear in my car its got the AOD tranny and i wanna keep it and mabye put a stall in it but thatll come later. Right know my question is do yall think i will run out of gear in a 1/4 mile with a 4.10. All my friends are saying 4.10 and thats what i want but i dont wanna max out in a 1/4. So will it top out or do I have anything to worry about? Thanks for the suggestions . Oh and my mods are in my sig.

You should be fine with the 410's but it all depends on the entire combo. Also the factors might change a little when you add a power adder. The perfect gear for 1/4 mile will put your car going through the traps at peak power RPM or a little higher. It al depends on your rear gearing, tranny gearing, tire size, and peak RPM power to get the perfect gear. Most people have to try several different combos to reach the perfect combo. If you get close with the gear then I would look to a different tire size to reach your goal.

i run out of gear with mine but im running a stock motor. i trap at 5500 and my peak hp is at 4800. your cam and heads will let you pull past 5500.

oh yeah im running a 26" tire

didnt see the gas/charger might want to consider 3.73's or 28" tires

Get 373's...

The h/c/i may allow the car to breath higher in the rpm band but it also makes the mph shoot up and he will run out of gear...the average h/c/i car don't usually go above 6200rpm (rev-limiter or component limited for power)...so you will most likely run out of gear with the extra power...

Especially with your future mods...go no higher than 373's or might want to consider some 355's...

The search in this situation wouldn't be that beneficial because he has certain mods/future mods that your not likely to find easily and other the same circumstances...and he is asking a pretty specific question...

he will not run out of gear even on a stock motor. I had this setup in my 5.0 and it pulled fine. Don't fear the gear, you'll be extremely happy with the 4.10's trust me

Correct me if I'm wrong but a h/c/i car will run out quicker than a stock 5.0

Did you ever own an AOD? How do you know? Why are you here?

Poor memory?LOL,I guess so,I dont remember a conversion!! H/C/I increase power??DDUUUHHHH!!! Thats the whole reason for doing it you brainless twit!! And it also makes power at a higher rpm then stock,,so yes 410's would ROCK this guys car You go to the track alot?? what once or twice a season?? in the 1/8 mile

Umm...just so you know I know a bit more about the track than you...trust me

No actually my closest track is 1000' (longer than the 1/8)...a quarter mile track is two more hours out...so which one do I choose...the closer one

Holy cow...h/c/i makes more power? Wow...didn't realize that since my engine is stock (as he takes a peak at his signature)...

Yes the 410's would help a h/c/i car out...but what your not realizing is that a h/c/i (since it makes more power) is going to get him at a given mph faster which will cause him to run out of gear because gears are pretty accurate about topping out at the same speed each time

Go back to the track and learn something...oh and the only reason why I hadn't went to the track in a couple months (to run)...but I still watched...was because I was getting my car "tuned" better for what the track would offer to it...clutch/oil leaks/tune-up/etc...

Why should you remember me swapping it...it was swapped WELL before you came on stangnet...but I have mentioned in the past quite a few times to you trying to show you what times I was getting with the AOD with the same mods as you...and it was faster then also...
