Stock Gt engine getting 210-215. Add on

SCT Mustang 4-Bank Eliminator Chip
Cobra inatke manifold
BBk headers
K&N Cold air intake
70mm throttle body
magnaflow magnapack exhaust

Am I off the mark by thinking i'd come in at around 270-275 hp?

Yeah, you're pretty off with that. A good set of heads and a cam will get you closer to your target.

I think you'd be off the mark if you hoped for about 235-240 to the flywheel with those mods. The chip probably wouldn't do much to help at this point, if the only engine mod you have planned is a Cobra intake. A Cobra has that intake, plus GT40 heads and is only at 240.

I'll throw in my thoughts

Starting off with stock conditions

The tb will do not do anything or next to nothing
The catback will not do much ... maybe 2 or 3
The CAI ... if it draws in cool from outside the motor compartment ...
will make a difference but ONLY when it is cool outside 5 to 10

Again ... The focus here is when the temp is ideal

The headers and intake will be a compliment to each other so I'd
have to say those items are your highest power gain mods of all
that have been listed

The deal on those two items is .......
each one is on the side of an E7 head which just doesn't
allow much airflow

Almost forgot the chip ... I'd have to say ..........
about the same as the catback

Also ... if the BBK's are LT's then you should have a nice boost in
torque at low to mid range ... but ... If your focus is on peak power
then you would not notice much difference between shortys and LT's

If staying NA ... don't go for an ignition

The OEM is more than enough for a stout NA combo

Most peeps think in terms of Rear Wheel HP
but
If you wanna deal with Flywheel HP
and
If you are talking stick trans

You loose about 15% through the driveline

I guess you'd be looking at 300 X .85 for 255 to the wheels

You can obtain that level of power with OEM GT40 stuff

have you used the chip or know about it? i heard ppl get 20ish hp gain from one tune and 4 to 5 mpg on another. is that just plain Bull$%^*?

If you are talking to me

I'd not know about that chip
but
I have had a bit of experience with tuning a 94-95 Stang

With such a combo ... you're not really moving all that much more air
and the OEM fuel system is more than cabable of dealing with what
additional air flow you are now generating

That means the fuel is gonna be pretty good as the OEM inj's
and meter are still in place

When you see a tune make more than a subtle difference is when
the values in the pcm are a good bit off due to mods that have
increased airflow substantially

Of course ... you need substantially more fuel and the tune will take
care of the additional air flow and fuel requirements

I can say for certain with a mild combo
I can make a differnce that will be felt for sure
but
The difference would be from things like
tip in retard killed
spark curve modified to produce torque quicker
fuel optimized
and other little things

Here is the thing about such a combo with the tuning I speak of here

Yes ... you would feel a difference
but
You would not see all that much more peak power if on the dyno

What I'm trying to say is ............
I have complete control of all pcm settings and I can datalog for
fairly detailed verification for a specific car ...

Is some generic chip gonna do more than that

I think not
and
If it could match it

It would not be all that much ... 5 maybe 10

Again ... we're only talking bolt on stuff here
so
The tune ain't gonna be all that far off

Now as you generate a good bit more airflow ... things get outta hand :Word:

You need fuel to keep up with the airflow

That means larger inj's & meter so the fuel will be outta whack

Add pulleys and an offroad X pipe and that should be close to a 230-240rwhp setup in a 5 speed car.

If you are looking to make 300 HP, you should start with a cam and heads and work your way out.

The best, smart, way to make power is to build the motor from the "inside" out.

The cam is the "hardest" to do, because you have to take so much off to swap it. That's why I say do it first.

The biggest thing is out of the way...you have a goal to go for

I can see you're talking in terms of crank HP but it would be easier to refer to rwhp. Healthy stock '94-'95 GT's with a T5 tranny put down about 190-195rwhp/260-265rwtq.
With your mods you'll have about 20rwhp more than stock, so that's 210-215rwhp (245-250 crank HP if you like).
You'll need long tube headers, a good H-pipe, underdrive pulleys, and better heads to get past 260rwhp (300 crank HP).
