No it does not come on. The only thing that this change affects is your speedometer and your auto-transmission shift points, slightly.
This can all be fixed with a tuner such as SCT Xcal II or a Diablo. But I saw in another post that you were worried about a tune messing up your warranty, yes it will. So you may just want to live with the speedo being off for a while.
Or there may be some type of calibration gear/tool out there, there was for older Mustangs, but I dunno about our new breed
Also, you probably already know this, but a gear change is completely noticeable, feels like a stronger car, Ford techs will know about it, and they will not warranty anything that they feel was caused by the gear change (i.e. transmission, rear-end, etc)
An option might be to call your dealer, talk to the service manager of managers, and ask if you had them order and install the gears if they'll put in writing that they'll warranty them and still honor all other warranty issues If they agree, get it in a writing, and pay the outrageous rates they charge at the dealer, it may be worth it
On the Diablo Predator, at least, I'm pretty sure you can leave the stock tune as is and JUST make adjustments for different axle ratios, tire sizes, etc. A dealer would have to be pretty @#$@! picky to mess with your warranty over that adjustment and gears only. I've never heard of it happening.
On the other hand, with tuners costing what they do, that's a steep price just to have your speedo correct. I'd only do it if I knew I'd eventually use it for tuning, also.
If you DO have a dealer do the work, it's going to cost you a lot more than a tuner shop...But I'm sure the dealer could adjust for the gears, so you wouldn't need to buy the tuner.
I was told you can have your local Ford dealer install a set of Ford gears for you, and they will flash the computer so the speedo will be correct.
All this with your warrantee intact!
