as for as the onboard computer,are they transmission specific? the car i'm getting it from is originally a 5 speed and the transmission i've bought is a aod. will it be compatible?

You may already have your answer from fordfuelinjection.com, but I can tell you that yes, they are transmission-specific. Luckily, they are also cross-compatible. The 5-speed car has an A9L computer, the most desirable in fact. AOD Mustangs had an A9P, the second most common in Fox3 cars. I think the AOD computer had a less agressive advance curve or something minor like that.
